how to get a better price when selling swine

I normaly take my hog
To fair and sell them at the acution and I normally write letters to people so they will bet on my hog and raise the price is there anytging else I can do to get a good profit

Are you raising crossbred hogs? I sell crossbreds and purebreds via word of mouth, by placing classified ads and posting flyers on the cork boards at feed stores. I am holding back a boar from my most recent litter to raise for the show ring, I'm sure you know how that helps increase a hog's value if it places well. I would suggest that you try to get your hog into a larger hog show; the Pork Expo, various type conferences and American Royal all have really nice selling prices for top hogs.
