i have a hefer that i will be breeding soon and i was woundring what can i do to get her in the best condition
thinner condition at breeding time is 100% of the time better for breeding than having one too fat, as is having them on the thinner side at calving opposed to too fat.angus4ever said:i have a hefer that i will be breeding soon and i was woundring what can i do to get her in the best condition
I'm not saying anything on this until or we see a picture of her, because we have absolutely no idea what she looks like nor what condition she's in: we don't know if she's already in good condition, too fat or too thin! You should also check out my page on Body Condition Scoring here: http://www.backyardherds.com/web/viewblog.php?id=236-bcs-of-cowsangus4ever said:i have a hefer that i will be breeding soon and i was woundring what can i do to get her in the best condition
I'd rather have it middle-of-the-road. Heifers are still growing so they would need the extra condition (but not too much) as carry-over. I.e. I'd rather have heifers breed at 5 to 6 instead of 4 to 5 on a 1-9 scale.shawnfisher said:thinner condition at breeding time is 100% of the time better for breeding than having one too fat, as is having them on the thinner side at calving opposed to too fat.angus4ever said:i have a hefer that i will be breeding soon and i was woundring what can i do to get her in the best condition
I'd try to slim her down if she was at my place.
