Hydroponic fodder

I am still in the planning stage of raising meat rabbits. I think I am going to have 12 does and two bucks. I have a hydroponic fodder system for my sheep and chickens. Has anyone used or is using fodder for their rabbits?

Hello! I am making the switch right now. I only have 2 does. they are both about 10lbs and one is hopefully pregnant. I feed them .5lbs of fodder a day PLUS a large handful of timothy alfalfa hay mix. I am reducing their pellets by .5oz every week. I should be completely off pellets by the end of the month! Checkout F.microfarm.com. She has angora's on this system. I am hoping to put my goats on this system as well. I grow 1# of seed into 6# of fodder. 1# goes to rabbits right now the other 5 goes to my 10 chickens. I feed my chickens nothing but the 5lbs of fodder daily. They are in a 20x30 run catching bugs and the like

From the results other people have posted, it's completely possible as long as you remember the caveat.

While you save money on food, you do "lose" some money on slower growth. I've not read of any instances of 5lb's in 8 weeks, as is the target for good stock on pellets.

As long as you're ok with raising for 10-12 weeks to get the same size (with the added cage use, slightly tougher but more flavorful meat, potentially slower breed-back, etc) then it's totally an option.

Mine would not touch it. I recently started trying growing it in soil like the wheat grass people like. This appears to be taken better. We are still testing it out though. I will say I have better luck avoiding mold and the like using soil versus just water.
