OK, meme, glad you are going to get a kitten. Does it have all it's shots? And, when it gets old enough, have it spayed or neutered.
Oh, and be sure and clean the cat box more than once a month.
I assume YOU are going to be cleaning the cat box??
I have had cats all my life and they are wonderful, loving creatures, but do require care, and vet visits as do all animals.
One thing, cats don't really need baths with soap and water like dogs do, unless they get into something really yukky, like sprayed by a skunk (use tomatoe juice on it to remove the smell).
