She is about 20 months old and this will be herfirst. She started developing a bag two weeks ago. Today she had lost her ligaments and was drpping some clearish fluid. It is going to be 7 degrees with the wind chill. I have a 300 gallon water tank filled with shavings and a big hole in one side for her. I don't have a barn to put her in as this is not normal weather for us. I hope she stays warm enough. Is there an easy way to make kid coats? My calf has a coat on an I think it really helps her.

I just use 0-6 mos cheap winter baby (long sleeve) shirts from the dollar store. You just have to change them more often w/ bucklings, but they work well for us. I roll up the sleeves to keep them from getting tripped up.
I've also heard of people cutting up tube socks (for smaller kids).

Tube socks, the sleeve off an old sweatshirt (wristband is the neck-hole, cut holes for front legs) or doggie sweaters for teacups.
If it were ME, I'd lock that doe inside the tank with a heat lamp...but then, go read my LH Candy Heart post and you'd know why. I had her under 2 heat lamps, obviously with this cold snap (our wind chill was in the singles, too) it's JUST too cold to kid outdoors safely.
In our new barn, DH is designing a 'kidding hut' where we can enclose the doe with insulation board in such a way as to hold the heat IN and DOWN and prevent this issue...similar to your tank idea.

Once we have the barn built, I'll post pics. The only thing I haven't figured out yet is how to then get a camera inside the things, but A/V is DH's department...so I'm sure he'll get it done right. Ours will be the only goat barn with multiple cameras and a video switcher, LOL!- Thread starter

Still waiting on kids and I'm very happy for that. The bad thing is the majority of my animals are at my in laws and in an area with no electricity. In a few more weeks we will be closing on our new house which has 7 acres so all the animals will be coming with us. I will then be building a barn and new chicken coops. Working on the plans for everything now.
