Man... Reading through all these rabbit things has made me MISS my rabbits! WHo i usually hated!!

I REALLY want to get a rabbit... prolly a meat one so a californian or new zealand would be great...maybe just start out witha bred doe, see what her kits taste like... but I dot think I can get one.. :hit

Sooooooo.

What do y'all have advice wise on how to convince my mom and dad to let me get one? We JUST got goats, so its not likely, but if you have ANY ideas? Oh, and we;re moving so its LESS likely, but still :p Just have one one summer who has kits, eat the kits, then eat/sell the doe. Simple. But I need ways to fool my mom/dad into getting a rabbit...so, Any ideas??? LOL

I suspect I'm in the minority here, but I think it would be easier to convince your parents to house a rabbit or two if you wanted it as a breeder or pet than specifically for meat. The idea of getting a doe, already bred or otherwise, and eating her and all of her offspring within the year is sort of strange to me. Don't misunderstand, I'm certainly not opposed to eating rabbit or raising meat rabbits, but it seems like it would be a hard sell--"let's get a rabbit so we can kill it!" Perhaps suggest you're interested in raising meat rabbits as a hobby, or even showing and raising. As a parent, I'd be more interested in supporting an endeavor like that.

Not to mention . . . how old are you? Will you pay for their food and housing with your own income? Who's going to dispatch these rabbits?

It might be harder for you to convince your parents, seeing as how you had rabbits previously. I convinced my parents, by telling them that the rabbits would help me to get out of the house more and stay away from video games.

LOL. Okay that was funny.

Well, we're moving. But its gonna be a while (our house isnt the most ideal house....) So getting a meat rabbit per say, to breed again and again to eat kits, could work, but we would have to eat her sometime.

I'm ot old enough to get a job, but i find ways to earn money, and Im okay with killing rabbits, and we have a rabbit hutch (that we used for chickens :gig )
