I'm located in south east Texas and I'm in some serious search of some tan rabbits. The only issue seems to be that NO ONE SEEMS TO BREED THESE SUCKERS. Since this forums has such a wide range of rabbit farmers I was wondering if anyone knows a breeder with show stock quality for sale in the central to east Texas. Hopefully this isn't in the wrong place for posting. Thanks for the help in advance.

Welcome :frow, have you checked out the American Rabbit Breeders Association (ARBA) website? The author of Storey's Guide to Raising Rabbits talked about raising Tan rabbits-not sure if he still is or how to contact him.

Good Luck in your search, hopefully others might have some info. for you!

Very informative, I didn't know that they had a "breeder finder," but unfortunately no one in Texas seems to be breeding tans... Tans just seem hard to find in Texas, golly.

I don't know much about the Tan breed, we raise Californian and French Angora- at this point my kids just show in our local 4-H fair.

Another possibility would be to talk to your local 4-H extension office- they might be able to put you in touch with local rabbit people who might know of someone. Or if there are rabbit shows close to you that you could attend.

http://www.atrsc.org/member-directory Here is a directory of the breeders from the national club listing. I hope this is ok to share here. Usually if you find one, you can find another through them.
I've tried to contact the tan breeder in Texas and yet no response.... So its kind of disappointing.. But I suppose I'll keep trying.

I know your pain. If you contact other people in states near texas you may be able to find transport and or they may know of someone who raises them. Check with your states rabbit club as well because some are members of ARBA or the state club but not the breed club.
