Ridin' The Range
Hello!
My name is Kelsey ,I grew up with lots of different livestock ,but we had more goats than anything. At one time we were milking 30 dairy goats by hand ! I showed goats, sheep, market g & s and dairy cattle and have remained active in Ag.
Now that my husband and I have our own place we have been adding new critters!
we have ducks and cattle and most recently........a little bottle baby kid ! ........in our house.......haha
My mother in law had never had any goats to when she decided to get some I said id help her if she needed anything. WELLLLL.....turns out her new goats were pregnant(before she bought them)...and pretty small and young to be bred. Unfortunately, she lost the first baby ,as it was too small. Well the second one was born in this cold snap around the 2nd of Jan. when I raced over to her farm the baby was near frozen ,crooked legs ,not looking good. Long story short , the mama was new and the baby was weak and we couldn't get them to work together , soo I ended up with a bottle baby.
Now she is healthy and crazy (except for so diarrhea today) but that will be a different post. Its been an unexpected joy , but man do i stress out over the smallest things. I guess i just have put soo much time and emotion into saving the little doe that I don't want to let myself, the kid, or my mother in law down.
Growing up neighbors , friends and even vets would bring sick babies 'of all kinds to my mom and we would usually get the little ones up and healthy! soo I'm lucky to have the knowledge from my mom and have a phone to call her every second when something goes wrong with my own critters haha Only thing is , we live in different states now so it leaves me sometimes to find out my own solutions!
Talk with you all soon!
