Chillin' with the herd
I just picked up two new does. They are both pregnant, I have the biotracking to prove it. Right now that are in a smaller enclosure that is adjacent to the large pasture where everyone else lives. I understand that there will be some fighting as they establish pecking order.
What is surprising me, is our Rent-a-Buck seems intent on breeding them. He's hanging out by the fence, checking his manliness, spraying himself, blubbering at them. I certainly do not want to put the little girls in with him to be accosted. Is this normal buck behavior toward does who are bred and not in heat?
I suppose the bright side is, he will go home early next week as long as my herd queen does not go back into heat on Saturday. She miscarried early this fall and I'm having a tough time getting her bred again.
