Several of my goats seem to be loosing hair on their ears. They are shedding like crazy right now, so is this due to illness or rubbing? I've not noticed it before and just want to be sure.
One of them seems to have some thin areas on the insides of her legs along with the ears. I gave them their cdt vaccine and goat wormed last month. Should I give them all ivomec now....will that kill any lice or mites if they have any?
Our goats lose the hair in the tips of their ears every winter. Is she missing hair on the nose or tail? Any crusties in the nose with balding patches there? Maybe mineral deficiency?
You have several options:
-Shave her if is is warm enough. Do this outside, away from other goats, and clean up your equipment afterwards to -avoid bringing it back into the barn.
-Wash her with permethrin -0R- wash her with sulfur lime dip -OR- dust her and brush it into her coat thoroughly
You will need to retreat her religiously every few weeks to catch the rehatch of eggs and break the cycle. You could also use injectable ivermectin but I try to only use that when I really have to.
I have sweet licks minerals out for them and a mineral block in the pasture with copper. Right now I have some 7dust on hand...is that different than permethrin?
