Very new shepherdess here. My bottle fed ram is seven days old today, and last night my daughter noticed a little something on his face when she fed him, but didn’t think anything of it. When I took the 4 AM feeding, I noticed his right eye was kind of runny. When I got back to the house I tried to look up all the things that could be. They say pink eye usually will affect the other eye pretty quickly, but so far this hasn’t happened. I noticed he had a very slightly runny nose and sneezed a couple of times but no more after that. He was in a frisky mood and eating well so hoping it’s not something bad. I am going to try to attach pictures but it was super hard to get any good ones. Thanks for any advice!

Since he’s only a week old and it’s winter, it’s probably not pinkeye. Check that his lower eyelid isn’t rolled in towards his eyeball. If it is, his lashes with irritate the eye and cause runny, goopy eyes and can cause blindness if not fixed. Most cases of “inverted eyelids” are easily fixed by rolling the eyelid back out. You might have to do it more than once.

If it doesn't look like an "inverted eyelid" as mentioned above..

Could also just be a plugged duct or dirt got in there.

If you have a bottle of saline, you can use that to irrigate the eye to wash out dirt.

A warm wet washcloth will help to clean off outer guck, and gentle warm wet massage at the corner of the eye nearest the nose will help if the duct got clogged.

Yep, I'd go with inverted eyelashes, too, maybe a blocked tear duct. Cooled previously boiled water with just a little pinch of salt and soak some make-up remover pads. Irrigate the eye and gently clean the eye by wiping from the nasal side to the outside should help

Good result. I have pinkeye in my girls at the moment and will take a pic later today to post here so folk can see what it looks like.
