My goats are rubbing on everything. I know some of the issue is that they are shedding their winter coat, but is there anything to help them with their itchiness?

I'd check them for lice. Mine also had them, and I didn't know...I just knew they were itchy and rough coated and losing weight. Turned out they were absolutely infested! Yuck!

Mine like to rub against the fence to scratch down their sides up against their backs. As if climbing the fence isn't going to loosen it fast enough. :p

I bought a cheap bristly brush to use on them. They really like to be brushed but prefer I brush their necks although they seemed to have itchy sides.

I was thinking of getting the stiffest push broom I can find and screwing the head of it onto one of these wooden posts we have standing around. Maybe distract them from the fence. Maybe the llama would like it too -- she's been delightedly trampling brush piles to get them how she likes them then diving in to scratch.

I hope it's not lice or something all around. The goats shedded and looked a little dandruffy when I got them but it seems to be clearing up -- maybe because of the minerals.

That's a good idea - thanks!! I'll double check them for crawling critters today just to be sure.

I saw somewhere on here on BYC where a person bought some inexpensive hair brushes, cut off the handles and screwed the hair brushes to the stall wall at the right hight for the goats. May not be pretty, but they loved it.
