Hello, I live in southern Maine and am new to this forum (with respect to posting) and I need some advice or tips. I have two very overweight mini donkeys that are in the pasture with three kiko/boar cross goats. All are pasture pets. I would like to decrease the size of available pasture for the donkeys yet still allow the goats to come and go between all areas, which includes the barn. I was thinking of a "creep gate" of some sort to allow the goats to and from access yet keep the donkeys contained in their limited space. Any suggestions???

In this way, the smaller area of the pasture for the donkey's can be mowed and kept very very short so they will have the enjoyment of grazing but not suffer the dangers of too much lush pasture forage. They get no grain what so ever. I tried grazing muzzles and the buggers got them off in a shot!!

I really am at a loss for how to drop some weight off these gals. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Louise

I've done something similar to give my goats access to one part of the barnyard and keep the mini horses out. I leave the gate open about 10 inches. I use a chain to hold it and place the chain at about chest level for the mini's. The goats can go under the chain and through the gate, but the mini's are kept out.

Works for me. You might have to play with the adjustment a little, but I'll bet you can make it work.
