Kid and grain

when will kid get to eating some grain?? I see him nibbling hay, but he can't get to any grain before mums butt him and gobble it up. I leave some out for him when I separate him at night. That's the best I can do for now. Maybe I shouldn't grain a meat whether too much if any. He's 3 weeks and we're going to castrate him later after CDT shots.

Does this sound right?

It is okay to grain him if it is medicated goat grain with ammonia Chloride in it.

around 3 to 4 weeks they will start showing a little interest
Around 6 weeks they will really pick up on it.
My 8 week old kids that I just weaned are eating around a poung(3cups) a day. I hav full-sized goats.

putting it at night with him is a good idea. will give him a chance to be exposed to it. You only need a sprinkle in the bottom of the bowel, so it stays fresh.
