Question: maybe a stupid one...do you shake/stir your milk before using it? After sitting in the fridge for a few hours, it settles and a really thick cream is on top. My instinct on this is to shake it up really good before using it. Am I right, or maybe no?

If you like the taste of whole milk then shake it up and enjoy! If you don't - feel free to skim off the cream and ship it to me, lol!

I know folks who do both... I do both. I've made butter from the cream and it's good - white - but good!

We have some goats with higher butter fat content than others. Goats milk is naturally homogenized, so if you get good seperation, then you have a lot of fat.

When we see that, we skim and make butter. It is really good, but you need to use it pretty quickly because it doesn't keep too long.

If you shook it up, that may explain why you didn't like the taste.

We love it.
