Been pretty busy working on accommodations for a trio of goats I was given this last fall. I'm not complaining, but keeping them dry and all has been a challenge. To make things even better, I was given a lovely young buck in lieu of money. So, in spite of everything I've been told in the contrary, our buck has been housed with the my does. Couldn't very well leave him out in the wide open spaces. So, knowing when my girls have been bred has been a little hit and miss. I'm thinking around Nov. 14, but I'm not for sure. Maybe a day or so sooner, but I did see him getting very interested and Skittles not putting up too much of a fuss as he tried mounting.

At the time, he would have been 9 months of age. Now, the two doelings, being late born, would have been only around 4 almost 5 months, but he didn't seem too interested in them. However, since I've not been able to house them separate, I'm sure that they have, they're udders seem to be developing, not much to them yet though, but certainly than they were 3 months ago. Either way, I figure, come April 13th, I'll have to be quite vigilant. Especially as we are off grid and have no electricity outside of a generator at night for a short bit. Least I've plenty of straw. We just got one of those big round bales, and more are easily come by.

Skittles, my herd queen, is a Nubian/Oberhasli and she's the sweetest thing ever. She loves to give kisses too. She was a twin herself, and she had twins her first time, so I'm hoping for twins again.

And these are some pictures from tonight. This evening while going out to feed them and just spend some some time with them, I noticed she had a small amount of whitish discharge. Pictures are a little fuzzy since I only had my phone on me instead of my camera and the sun was going down.

I tried to get some pictures of the girls, but my phone died in the middle of taking pictures, so I just have the two. Tried to check their tail ends, and Nougat really pitched a fit and would not let me look period, let alone try for a picture, and Taffy just kept walking away from me.

Nougat and Taffy are Skittles girls, and their daddy was a Nigerian Dwarf who escaped from his area during a snowstorm last year in February and helped himself to a number of does. The lady we got my does from was not terribly thrilled about since he wasn't registered and she had a registered buck she was planning on breeding with.

This is a picture of Nougat (left) and Taffy(right) taken at the beginning of January. They're such lovely girls.

And of course, you can't have any kids without a daddy. Domino is purebred myotonic Pygmy. He's not registered but, I plan on getting him registered.

Edited to resize the overly large pictures. Ooops.

I plan on registering him with the MGR as a mini. Skittles is registered with ADGA as an ER doe.

Girls are all doing well, still a little over a month to go. Got a nice tail end picture of Nougat. She was otherwise occupied in seeing if there was any chicken scratch that the chickens might have missed.

Course, it was still a little cool that morning and my phone hates it when it's cold so it promptly died upon trying to take another picture. I really need to remember to plug my camera's battery in at night when the generator is running.

I've seen a little more whitish discharge out of Skittles, but not a lot. Taffy and Nougat and certainly developing more of an udder. I really need to get a hold of wireless pair of clippers that's not dull. Found my old pair, but I tried it on my boys hair and he yelped since it kept pulling. So, not a good idea on a goat who does not like her girly parts messed with.

Well, sometimes I really hate to be right. :) But I also love it. We have our first baby, and she was born during our most recent storm. Day 146 approx. Though I was only partially right, I thought Taffy wasgoing to go first since it seemed like her ligaments had dropped, but Nougat decided to oust her sister out of the spot and about 7:20 pm on the 9th she gave birth to a beautiful little doeling. We've decided on naming her Storm. It was 11 degrees out and the wind was blowing like a banshee. Suffice to say that Storm spent her first night in the house. Well one doe down and two to go.

Within minutes of being born. Nougat is a good mama, already happy to be helping in drying her off. Cold out and snow had blown in has well. Brr.

Nougat and little Storm are doing great, they've been enjoying the sunny weather today. Nougats being a great little worrisome mama, she's never more than a few steps away from Storm. Storm on the other hand is still finding her balance when trying to do her little jumps. A few times she's ended up on her back and Nougats been all over her, making sure that she's okay. Storm just takes it in stride.

As for the other two, Taffy's been lounging around and just relaxing. She's a little slower today, do hopefully she'll be kidding soon, other than that she seems to be in no big hurry to give birth yet. Neither does Skittles, she just happily comes up for scritches and breathe lovely fermented breath all over me. I really hope they're not going to wait for it to rain. Be my luck that they do though.

Taffy gave birth today at about 10:40 am. She had just a single and a buckling at that. So I don't get to keep him :( He's a cutie though. He started out being called Sebastion, but I think he'll be carrying the name Nicodemus for now :). Had to have the SO's input on it :). he came out at 6.98 lbs. So roughly about the same as Storm, though I didn't get her weighed until about a day and a half later and she weighed in at 7.28 lbs.

Had a little trouble with him, he had one leg folded back. Taffy so did not want me helping and every time I tried to maneuver him back, she would push. So she ended up pushing me and the baby out. He doesn't seem to be doing too bad,got up after a little while and she seems to be doing good as well.

Well this July and August our buck got to our does. Snotty little brat. Wasn't quite ready for that, and this December has been cold, but at least Nougat waited until it was a little bit warmer before she popped. Course, I can't find my scale and she really didn't show any signs and since I wasn't sure exactly when she was bred it's been a guessing game. Well sometime early this morning she gave birth to a couple of bucklings. Sadness. I was really wanting some girls. I need to have a talk with Domino. :)

They are so adorable, I might be able to talk the SO into being able to keep one of them But I need to find a new home for Nicodemus. Pictures will be coming soon.

This is the littlest of the two boys. I get a kick out of the white on his nose, looks like he splashed himself with milk.
