My 2yr old Boer cross doe, Shug, is pregnant for the first time and was supposed to have been due late Feb. Around Thursday her belly dropped and her back end was swollen, her back end is still swollen. On Sunday her ligaments seemed loose and there was milk on her teats. Monday morning her ligaments were still loose but then it seemed the later it got, the more they went back to being hard/firm. This morning (Tuesday) they weren't as loose as they were Sun-Mon but her back end is still very pink and swollen. Has this happened to anyone else? I'm not expert, but I am usually pretty good at feeling the ligaments but with her I'm at a complete loss!

Yeah my doe did that to me last week. She finally kidded a good week and a half after she was due. Just give it time, she'll go when she is good and ready. It's just us human "momma's" that stress over waiting lol

Haha. I guess, I just would have thought by now she would have kidded! Probably about the time I relax and get busy with other things, she'll decide it's time!

Yep that is typical doe code behaviour lol. Same thing happened to me and then I got a call at work "You need to get here asap, you have babies on the ground!" lol

Her ligaments "disappeared" last night around midnight, so hopefully we'll have babies by tonight. So excited! :weee

She delivered a adorable little girl at 3:40!! She is such a long legged, lanky thing! Her father was built like that though (I'm pretty sure he was mixed with a larger dairy breed) and so was her half sister. Mommy is doing good right now, but there hasn't been an after birth, only thing I've seen is the yucky mucous cream/tan stuff that comes out with the baby. She lies down and grits her teeth then gets back up, I've never had a doe go this long without passing the after birth, thoughts?

My understanding is that as long as they pass it within 24 hours, it's ok. I'd watch her carefully for the next little while and see how she does. Be aware if you're not around to stop her, she might eat it, or if you have an LGD, they might.
