Does anyone else have problems with their water bottles leaking? I have the regular water bottles you hang on the cage and the spout with a ball bearing sticks through the cage. I guess it may be the movement of the rabbits but I watched the bottles today dripping water. My bottles do not go a 24 hours without me having to fill them. That is for 2, 5lb NZ rabbits per cage.

They are probably getting air somewhere; perhaps the tops are not screwed on tight enough. The ball is not water tight. What makes them work is that no air can get in to replace the water till the bun licks it and lets a few air bubbles in. When you first fill them it's normal for them to drip for a few minutes till they draw a vacuum.

When I fill my bottles, I screw on the lid tight (there is a rubber washer to help the seal). Then I flip them upside down, squeeze hard. Then, still squeezing, I flip them back and hang them on the cage. The vacuum will stay until the bottle is flipped again or it runs out of water.

I've found mine leaking if the bottle isn't
perfectly upright. The ball slides back letting the water out.

Some of those just seem to have more issues than others. :/ I like the bottles that have the brass valves the best.

I wanted to revive this thread to ask where you find the bottles with the brass valves? The only ones I have seen are the heated ones for winter time. I'm going to get those too, but wanted a summer variety that i could fill partway and freeze, then add more water too.

I get mine from Morton Jones: http://mortonjones.com/detail.php?product_code=317
I like the flip open top. Saves me so much time. And there's no leaking.

This probably isn't too helpfull, but I've found when I get the new bottles from TSC (whilte/blue type with the ball on the nozzle) they will leak (run through overnight) for the first week or so. After that they are ok.

I got mine at my local farm and home.
I had one that had the ball and was horrid. I like the ones that have the stick valve type thing. (poss. brass valve??)
