I have had 3 goats together for a little over a year (Kono a Nubian female, Lou Nubian female, and Steve a sannen male). But suddenly a week ago two of them ended up with bad diarrhea I got it tested and dewormed them but unfortunately the smallest girl(Lou) who was always a little frail didn’t make it It also caused the other girl(Kono) to miscarry her first pregnancy (which was the first on our farm, so very sad), well then one week later in some freak accident the males horn got stuck in konos collar and ended up strangling her (so beyond upset about this). So now we are left with the male goat (Steve) who is used to his two female companions and now he is lonely all the goats were bottle fed so they were all very loving. I thought about selling him to a good home because I was so upset about all the loss that happened the past few weeks but he is like a dog I can’t do that so to the point of this post I am wondering the best companion to get him because I hate to see him lonely. I’m wondering if a steer or another intact male? And should I get one with horns since he has them or can I get a disbudded one? Im thinking male instead of a female so I don’t have to worry about separating them after she’s pregnant. Any advice would be greatly appreciated for this discouraged farm girl.
