We dosed my goat for lung worm with ivermectin 5 days ago and he still has a cough tough it is not as bad as it was. Should I dose him again with the same stuff, use something different or wait? He is a pigmy nigerian dwarf cross and is one year old. The weather here is dry and hot. Thank you guys for looking.

I see that you are a neighbor and lung worm isn't something we see in our part of CA unless you are on irrigated pasture. The goat has to ingest a snail, the snail is the host for the lung worm.

I have a friend that claims that they had lung worm in their herd, brought in on alfalfa. All I can say is that that would be some pretty wet hay. Snails don't do well in dry places.

Are you sure it is lung worm? Goats just tend to cough in this dry dusting place we live in. I have some that cough more than others, but some cough a lot, and have for months and months.
