So its that time of year again for the little ones to be dropping!! I'm so very excited to be new here and just in time to share pictures of my little ones when they come!! I have boar & boar crossed goats, 9 in total 7 nannies and 2 billies!! So here we go!

This is Big Nanny (my 2 boys named her because she is always so big when she's bred!!) I do believe she is ready to go soon.

As you can see she is a little puffy and bag is dropping more and more each day!! She always throws either 2 big kids or 1 monster of a baby!!

This is Star, our pet, she's getting heavy, but no puffy-ness or bag dropping yet!

This is Stripy, same as above, no bag at all (may be a first timer, we just purchased her about 2 months ago at one of the local markets)

And all my goats are bred to:

They are, I worm on a regular basis and they get plenty of feed and good hay, mineral plus they go up in the mountains and eat all the weeds they want!! LOL Big Bill does show a mean side sometimes, like he wants to charge me sometimes but he's never knocked me over, yet. But he has his good side too, here lately he's been a pet and I dont like pet Billy goats, get mean on down the road. Had one like that in the past and he HATED me, always would charge me and knock me down, pinned me down once and my husband said it was time for him to go. Little Bill was one of his last year, not sure if he did much breeding due to his small size, but he sure did try several times.

Need to update:
Star has thrown me for a good one, she is now hollowed in and no longer looks bred. Her bag still isn't getting much bigger, but this will be her 2nd time to kid. She is gotten very loose and puffy so trying to keep an eye on her. Big Nanny still no progress, still getting very big and still very puffy, but has not dropped yet. Will update with more pictures soon!!!

Quick question for anyone to help. My goat, Star, had some white mucus this morning, not much but this is the 2nd time she's had this coming out of the morning. This morning she was standing at the gate, waiting to get out away from the other goats, but back with them after I let them all out this morning. I tried to take a picture this morning, but after I got done feeding everyone her tail had gotten the mucus on it and no longer came from her. I'm no pro but I can usually tell when my goats are getting very close so I can keep an eye on them (been doing this for 5 years now), but this is the first time I've ever seen any of my goats have the white mucus last week then this week...Is this any sign to closeness. I checked her bag still not full, but she looked as if she had some milk coming out of her teets...This will be her 2nd kidding. And she is very puffy and I can touch my fingers together when i check her ligaments. Thanks for the help!!!

Mine will have discharge up to a month before due! Some more then others. But with her ligs gone, id be watching VERY closely. Granted it might not be today, but soon. I've heard and seen Does bag up hours before kidding....and a month before. Everyone is different as you know!
You know your babies best! She'll let you know. With her wanting to 'get away' she may be ready for privacy/kidding pen to nest.

If it's white it sounds like the mucous plug. This can happen way in advance of kidding but like Bucking said, if she doesn't have ligs she's gonna go very soon. Like 12-24 hours soon usually after they have no ligs.

I have to ask - what exactly is being checked when people discuss ligaments on pregnant does? And what do you look for?

Where your Does back slides downwards toward rump, a few inches above tail there are ligaments. Just like women on either side of their abdomen to thigh area. With weight, these begin to stretch and loosen to accommodate growing bellies.
Now, if your Doe is about a week (145-ish days) from kidding, you want to begin to run your fingers on either side of her spine and slowly feel these ligaments. Once you can practically touch fingers around her spine, you know to have towels and your birthing kit ready!

Here are pics courtesy of Fias Co Farms. Explore and learn your does! Helps be prepared!

Best of luck!

So here's Big Nannie this morning (2/18) I took these with my phone so sorry if they aren't the best!! I couldn't get a back shot of her, she was being shy and kept covering up with her tail... What do you all think she will have? Twins, Trips??!! The picture doesn't do her any justice! She usually throws 2 big babies ... so guess we'll keep watching and waiting ...
