Me to homesteading and me here

I just joined this site. I have always wanted a self-sufficient Farm/homestead and it looks like I’m well on my way, as I’m under contract to buy a house with 14 acres around the end of January. I’ve always lived in NC, but will be moving into VA. I’ve got quite a bit to do as soon as I move in; complete a fence around the bigger pasture, build a couple of sheds, get a LGD and bring home 2 goats a friend is giving me, then start a flock of chickens and maybe duck and geese. There is a nice pond, a spring and a stream in the property, with a large section of woods as well as pasture. I’m retired now and it’s now or never! I’ve already made a friend near this house, ho has promised to introduce me to the homesteading community in the area, and I hope that some of my friends will join me in an intentional community. I look forward to learning so much here from all the experience everyone has!
