Sorry, i think i. Just deleted your post, i meant to press reply. Here it is though if it does delete you can copy and paste it. Am sorry again!

after doing some reading online I'm finding the same thing everyone has said here. The goat does come from a good line and has produced very well up to this point. My daughter is the one actually wanting the goat, and her husband had done a little reading online and he wanted her to get a younger goat because he'd read that 5 years was about as long as they produced milk. I didn't think that info was right, but because they're getting the goat from another family member I didn't want hurt feelings if there had been a problem later. Thank y'all for all the input! (We're looking forward to some milk soon!)

My reply: sounds good. I am glad you are getting a goat! They are great.

Just remember, you can keep the old doe for a year or two for milk and hopefully by then she will have given birth to some doelings. That way you can have a nice young group of ladies to milk :)

The goat had a female baby last year that my daughter was buying also. (She was still nursing off her mother) We just found out that the baby (who has just turned a year) had her own baby this morning... It was an ooops thing. So now she is getting the two milk goats, which has made my daughter very happy.

Good to hear. I was worried about them having a single goat. They are herd animals and need at least 2 to be happy.

Hope you are all getting great milk now. Congrats!
