I am almost done with the milk replacer , but I still want to give the electrolytes and pro-biotic to SirLoin (calf), but I have read that they don't like the taste of it by itself. What can I safely add to the water to get him to drink it? I want to give it him as kind of a treat.

I don't know if this is linked or mentioned anywhere else here, but I have found calfnotes.com is a good place to get some info. They have a paper on how to help your calf gain weight rapidly.

Hi there, sorry that I missed this post, I dont go to the pig section, lol.

Why are you wanting to give electrolytes? Healthy animals shouldnt get extra electrolytes, its possible to overdose them on it.

Probiotics wont hurt a thing, but if he is healthy and eating well, they wont help either.

If you know that they don't like the taste of it-------why would you think it would be a treat? Would you drink castor oil as a "treat"?

The best treat you can give the calf is to give him small quantities of grain at times. They love corn, oats, barley, etc. This will also help them to grow more quickly.
