milking cows???

If anyone on here has a smaller milking cow operation or any opinions in general about this topic I have a question for you. I am wondering how many cows would it take to have a small operation, like I mean that is on your own farm? I would think it would be interesting to have milk and make cheeses and butters and all that stuff so would you think like thirty, twenty. ten...?

Small means different things to different people. It really depends on how much time you have, and what you have available or can get for the cows. Describe a little more in detail on what you plan on doing and why and we can probably give you a better answer. Sorry
