Hello Everyone,
I have been looking around to try and find some other choices for minerals for out goats. At the moment we are giving them a mineral block in tandem with mana pro minerals but it is getting expensive. I was wondering if feeding the goats another animal say a horse or cows minerals would be okay (except for sheep) and if there are any goat minerals that come in bulk, such as a 50 pd. bag? Also, is there a general or minimum amount of copper that I should be looking for? Please feel free to add any other suggestions. Thank you so much!

Can you get cattle mineral Onyx by Cargill? I know a few goat owners feed it to their goats and it is a good one. I can get that special order through Jax in my area but I have to drive 1.5 hour to get to Jax.

Cattle minerals are generally pretty close.

Do you have a farmer's co-op nearby? They could probably order you some Sweetlix for goats if they don't already carry it.

If you can find it in your area the best loose minerals I have come across is a product call Vigortone Goat Pro Mineral. It is a 50# bag and the goats love it.

And to offer the minerals free choice it is easy to construct a feeder out of 4" PVC....google something like "goat mineral feeder pvc" and see how simple they are.

I also use Sweetlix loose minerals, and with 14 goats I am only going through a bag once every two months, and the bags are only $15 bucks.

I use just plain cattle range loose mineral along with copper bolus. Works great for my area and is very affordable.
