I'm looking for info on mini Scottish highland cattle. The herd I plan to buy a calf from is mini highland and low % Dexter. I like the looks and many aspects of the Highlands but I'm looking for a true dual purpose mini breed. Steers worth raising and cows worth taking the time to milk. I know Highland make great meat cattle and I like the fact that they have such high butter fat. But how much can I milk from a mini highland? Does it have a strong taste? Is a Dexter a better milk cow? And how good of a meat cow is a Dexter steer? How much bigger are Mini Highlands then short legged Dexter? And which has a better temperament for a milk cow? Which eats more in a hot/cold climate? How much shade do Highlands need in summer heat? And which fairs better on less then ideal pasture conditions? Also what breed has more mild bulls, or which would be easier to get AI straws for?
