Good morning to all. I have new additions to my little farm. I was bought a goat who kidded in January, so very cute and great learning experience. The mama rejected her twins, so a friend of mine helped bottle feed one of them. She also gave me a cutie of a pot belly pig about 6 months old, possibly bred. That was just over 7 weeks ago.
Since then Miss Piggy and I have bonded, shes so sweet. Also so very pregnant. She started showing a noticeable udder, milk line, also teats Feb 10th or so. Now what a difference poor girl. She can barely walk, she doesnt stand up for very long. Her teats are a lot smaller then I am used to milking so I cant extract any fluids from her. I have felt the babies move due to her always wanting lovens. If anyone could help her and I out, My nervousness and her poor uncomfortable self by tellin me if she is actually due sooner or later.

It is very hard to get picks of her backside. I wouldnt want people taking these pics of me either. The camera isnt the best, but she had hay stuck to her, so maybe discharge?
Any help would be greatly appreceated.
Oh I almost forgot, The last few days her apetite has been on and off. She has her favorites, but eats about half of what she used to. Thank you guys for any help!

She is looks close to me, but I am experiencing my first farrowing as well so I havent reallt seen the whole process. My gilt is due in a week but she could potentially be in labor tomorrow. She is miserable and is normally laying down and groaning due to the babies putting pressure on her insides, however this has been like this since mid february when she first started showing. However lately her babies have been moving around a lot, leaving her more cranky than usual. Is she nesting yet? With my gilt she nests naturally and her pile of straw has been growing a little each week, but nothing that really indicates she is prepping for babies. From what Ive read the easiest indication of labor is a dark colored liquid coming from the vulva, which tells you the first babe is on its way. Also seeing if you can get some milk lets you know she will be farrowing within 24hrs, from what Ive researched. Pigs are pregnant for 115 days but can go as early as 111, do you know when she was bred? Best of luck to miss piggy and prayers for a great farrowing...for the both of us!

Yes good luck to you and your piggy. Thank you for the reply. The woman I got her from says she seen the deed and wrote on her calendar the 1st of April. It would be cute to have Easter Piggy's yet Miss Piggy is having such a time with this, I feel bad for her. Going out this morning her milk line is getting pretty tight even the front ones, and shes sagging low on the back of her line. She must be sore because she didnt want much of a belly rub this morning, her Vulva doesnt look swollen today. Also I cant go by the nesting thing because she LOVES extra hay to play in then builds a nest, shes done this since the day I got her.

I am sorry for all of the piggy porn. (LOL) Seeing her like this reminds me of my last child birth, i went 9 days over and everything hurt and was tight. She lays on her side and just snorts at me.. :-( Also I spent a week with my goat before she kidded and her first was breech and he almost died. So I am more nervous. Do any of you think she will go til April?

Plus I live in central New York and it wont stop snowing and being cold, so she has a lamp because shes barely got hair and she gets cold. I can see goose bumps when I open her pens door.

I would estimate april 1st seems correct from the pictures. Small breed pigs are harder to tell then large breed. When she starts dripping milk from her teats she will farrow within 24hrs...not all pigs do this though. Seeing a milk line does let you know they are for sure bred but doesnt really indicate labor soon as most pigs seem to start making a milk line 3-4 weeks before farrowing.

I went out today to spend some time with Miss Piggy after giving my baby goats there bottle. Everything was fine until I got a phone call, i was talking on the phone and still petting Miss Piggy, I stopped to switch hands and Miss Piggy jumped on my arm, i pushed her back in her little pen gentley, and was petting her again. I hung up the phone, had to switch hands again and she jumped even harder on my right arm, so I gentley put her back into her warm pen (its cold here in ny today) and closed the door. Can someone tell what the heck is going on?

The last two days her vulva has been really puffy and last night and this morning, she had hay sticking to it. I am getting some liquid out of her teas, but today she wants nothing to do with that either.

No, Oddly enough. She is getting more and more miserable each day. Ive got two boat kids whom she loved to visit when she was getting fed or her "lovings' shed let them in her pen and sniff and eat her hay and what not. This was all good until the day before yesterday (which I thought was the day but Ill get to that in a sec) our normal morning, i feed the kids then they come with me to finish chores and visit Miss piggy, well piggy was not having it, she went after the kids.
So they went back to there stalls and I left Miss Piggy alone (her vulva was swollen) so I kept a watch every couple hours. She was laying on her side and every so often she would twitch then "stretch" but she would really stretch holding her breath bringing her back legs up. i just kept an eye on her. In upstate New York were I live, we had a nasty wind and cold front go through and as soon as that hit she snapped out of it. She was so excited at dinner time, it was cute.
Yesterday was the tempermate but no stretching, she was just overly excited to eat.
Now this morning, HOLY COW! Did my normal chores, I give her her breakfast then go feed goats, chickens, ducks then come back and give her lovings, well she was okay at first, our normal belly rub wasnt normal, I got around her udder and she wasnt having that today, she squealed and jumped up (i guess as much as a big ol pregnant pig could jump) okay, so she went into her stall came back out, and i was just talking to her and softly rubbing her ear and chin which normally is great she tried to climb my leg then tried to literally take my boot off as her chew toy. So I directed her back into her stall which was a bit harder then her norm.
I went out due to the chickens throwing there cackling fit and shes laying on her belly and side a lil of both breatheing heavy I watched for a few niosely moving around, one side, belly one side belly. I will keep an eye on her today also. Her original owner had April 1st as 3m, 3w, and 3 days but thats when she first noticed mating. So I dont know. Man I thought goats were hard. LOL
I will deffinatly posts picks if and when this ever happens, Some of me thinks at times shes just fooling me.

I knew my pig was close when she built up a nest and would chase out anyone who went in her area. She also had super full udders to the points when you checked for milk, it was practically squirting in my face. Also she was a day over he due date so I knew it was time. Sounds like it cant be long now!
