missing kit

my polish doe just had her second litter - 5 kits. the next morning one of the was gone. not dead -gone!

what in the world? did she eat it? it was one of the 2 smallest and I found the other small one dead the next day. I still have 3 big healthy kits at 5 days.

Is she outdoors? Or indoors?

If she's outdoors it might've fallen out and got eaten by something, or she might've eaten it. If indoors, and you found no baby, she ate it.

Maybe she accidentally cut it and decided to clean up the mess, maybe she decided it was too weak. Hard to tell, but sometimes it happens.

It's possible that the doe ate it, especially if it died. I have had the odd doe to kill and eat a live kit, but it usually makes a telltale, bloody mess.

I think the kit died first as it was one of the two weak ones. I just wasn't sure if a doe would eat a dead kit.
