I bought a small 1 year old holland lop bunny at a fair and he had horrible dandruff. I think it's mites, and I put a drop of injectible ivermectin behind his head 4/13. He tolerated the medicine fine...no side effects. Then I gave him another drop behind his head today (4/24) thinking it should be much better by now, but he still has terrible dandruff and looks more scruffy. I thought I was only supposed to do 2 doses, but I'm thinking he's going to need at least 3. I'm afraid of overloading his system....:/
What else causes horrible dandruff, or has the ivermectin just not had long enough to work and show results yet?
I feel bad, he's still in quarantine outside when he should be inside learning to use a litter box and getting socialized with the rest of us, but can't do anything till this is cleared up...
