I've been working on feed mix for my rabbits, using pellet, oat, corn, calf manna, alfalfa cube, and grass hay. I've been mixing each day trying to figure out the best way.

Today, all my does ate everything except the corn. All my bucks ate everything except the oats.

Any ideas why?

If they have a choice of a wide range of feeds rabbits will balance their own diet to maintain their health. They may reject a particular food one day and gobble it a week later. Nature has put a lot of wisdom in animals. I do have to say that corn and oats tend to be the least favored grains with rabbits.

Did you look at the oats that the bucks left? Alot of rabbits eat the inside of the oats and leave the shucks.

Good point. I didn't know that cause I mix the feed for mine with oats and oats are usually leftover. I'll have to check that when I get home.

All my rabbits like oats. My buck LOVES oats. Need to wash him, give him some oats. Need to trim nails, give him a pile of oats and you can pick up and trim one foot at a time without him moving or pulling away.

terri9630, you mentioned bathing and then trimming your rabbits nails. I don't have my rabbits yet but what do you use to cut their nails? I think there is a lot I need to read and learn about rabbits and this is the spot to find out things. I should be getting my bunnies the first week of May, Lord willing, and still have cages to build to get ready for their arrival. I didn't know you needed to trim their nails. See I do have lots to learn. Thanks you for any information.

Like tortoise said, I just use dog or cat nail clippers. If the rabbits aren't very dirty I just use a baby wipe to spot clean. Kids in our local 4-H club use a spray bottle with the blue listerine and lightly mist the rabbits (KEEP THE EYES COVERED!) and use a clean white hand towel to rub the dirty spots.
