I have a doe ,first time mom that just kindled last night. She did everything ok. Except she keeps on going in and out of her box. Sits on top of the babies , The babies are screaming . She jumps out and she does it again. So far she killed 2 babies from doing this. I fostered one. I cant fostered anymore as my other does all have 10 babies. I am hoping for another litter tomorrow morning that has less so i can foster the others. Or should i take the box out and just give it back to her in the morning when i am doing my chorse.?Then take it back out again. ect.

You may need to use a nesting box for her that has a bit of a roof over part of the box (6" lip over the back of the box or something). That will keep her from hopping in and out from the side of the box, smashing her litter. I've had some new mothers do that, but eventually stopped.

They do that for lots of reasons. Is something spooking her? Or perhaps there's a litter in the cage next to her and when the other mother goes into her nesting box, it freaks her out and she hops in and out of hers? Or perhaps she's got reasons you can't figure out and the only fix is either to remove the box for a little while or get one with a roof over part of the top.

Virginia is for Pasture Farmers!
Take the nest out except for when you are letting her feed them in the AM and PM. Could try giving her another box to sit in and/or add a cover to her current nest.
