I have a question. I noticed with the show heifer that you have them tied by the nose too. Why? I've seen a lot of cattle at shows, dairy and beef, but, have never seen any tied this way.
here in Aus it is compulsory for any female or steer over 8.5 mths (under 8.5 mths is deemed a calf at foot) must have a nose clip/bug/dog and be led by it at all times. The lead on the nose isnt actually tied to the rails - it is looped up into the halter so that she doesnt tread on it and hurt her nose
in the US show ring the nose clip is optional for females and steers, I believe
we also require all bulls over 8.5 mths to be rung through the nose
Wow, those are some nice looking cattle. Looks like a lot of time and smarts went into selecting/breeding the right ones. The look nice and beefy too..... LOL. I don't know a whole lot about the breed, are they "just" beef, or dual purpose?
Thanks so much for sharing!
We have Limousin. They are pretty neat w/lots of personality. When we show, if it is a bull a year or younger, they don't need a nose ring. We don't use the permanent ones, just the clamp on ones. We don't use them on steers or heifers.
