oh...that's not good. A big buck to a small doe is not good for the doe. The kits would be too big and she could die trying to give birth. I mainly stick to breeding some breeds, so not sure exactly what would happen. Let's just hope she didn't take :fl

Well average gestation period is 28-31 days, most of the time its on day 31. So, count 31 days since the buck was with her. If you know a really experienced rabbit breeder or vet. that knows a lot about rabbits then you can have them try to palpate the doe, which you would do 10-15- days pregnant. So, then you'd know for sure or not if she's bred. If she is, not sure exactly what to tell you. I personally would probably just wait and try to be around when she gives birth. She might make it okay, she might not. I would try to find a vet. that knows something about rabbits or a breeder in your area that knows how to palpate, its the most accurate way to see if your doe's pregnant.

How old are both rabbits, and what size is the doe? Did you check her vent for signs of breeding?

To somewhat ease your mind... One can breed a Percheron stallion that is over 2000 lbs to a Shetland pony mare that is about 500 lbs and get a live foal. When I worked at UCD as a teenager with a herd of 120 dwarf cattle. We received a donated normal size Hereford bull ( 2400 lbs) that was a dwarf carrier. We bred him to dwarf cows that weighed in at 650-800 lbs and they gave birth to small calves. My neighbor's Coker spanial female got bred by a 90 lb male Boxer. She had 5 pups with no problems. The pups grew up to be 1 size of mother 3 half way between the two parents and 1 the size of the father. I had a few meat type rabbits where the parent male and female were of the same breed that gave birth to kits where one or two were up 2 to 3 times the size of their littermates with no ploblems. Genetics and the size of the uterus dictates the delivery of nutrients to the fetus in determining the size of offspring at birth. There are always exception to the norm. Mother Nature likes to provide for her charges in her kingdom. Good luck!

We had to assist our doe deliver a breech kit. She only had one and he was very large. I had to use lube to help get him out. He died befor he was borm and the doe had already began to reabsorb the placenta. The buck and doe were of the same breed. Infact the buck is about a pound smaller than the doe.

Last year we had a mini rex deliver 3. One normal sized, one smaller that only lived about a week, and one giant baby. Mom successfully delivered on her own but the large kit brok all four of his limbs during the process. He lived to be a year old befor he passed.

Both of these cases were first time moms. However, all of our other litters have been healthy.

I would plan on being around on day 31 to see if she needs help.
