Anyone ever had this happen before.
I have a katahdin ewe that is forming a bag and her genital area is quite swollen as well.
She is not overly huge in the middle, but she is bred to a black belly ram.

Anyway, my crazy ram is running her around acting like he thinks she is in heat. He wont let her be.
I got worried about her and penned her up away from him.

Now I'm second guessing myself. She is not happy about being picked outa the group, but I also don't want him running her to much or if she does have a lamb getting trampled.

He did not behave this way at all with my other ewe.

I gotta get some building supplies first.
I didn't think he would stay put in a makeshift pen as well as the ewe.

Can sheep bag up without being preg.?

No, I would've kept the ewe with the rest of the ewes and just took the ram out and kept him by himself.

Ewes bag up due to a hormone produced while being pregnant. So if she's bagging up, it's because she's pregnant.

The rest of the sheep can hang out near her. The makeshift pen is in their paddock.
so she is not totally alone.
Its also close to the house so with any luck we will note if something starts to happen.

I just got to second guessing myself because that duffus was harrassing her so much.

I'm just dumbfounded why he would act this way with this ewe and not the other ewe.

We will indeed be building a "time out pen" for him to be in when he won't behave himself.

This issue had just not come up yet.

Always something new it seems.
