So the Saanen that we took in uh 2 days ago just gave birth this morning. That was cutting it a little close, but it was only a 15 min car ride.

Mama and baby seem to be doing well.

Awwww....is that kid part Nub? She looks *just* like a doe we had that was a Nub / Saanen cross.

Doeling comes w/ registration application @ $150 dam raised. If I am pulling and bottle feeding (which I can) then $200 because she will be my only one. I just finished my big batch. She will be disbudded probably this weekend.


I'm really actually inclined to keep the dam and see what I can do with her with my Nigerian and get a mini saanen with a bigger udder than some of what I'm seeing on other local minis. And hauling a 200lb goat for 9hrs in borrowed van.. probably not the best plan.

Well I had heard that she was hand milked last time and she proved that she remembered at least 50% of the jump up here, put head here and eat this while they fiddle with me routine. Mildly kicky but she's only been here 48hrs and doesn't know me well yet. All in all 100% better than my cobra biting girl that does goat yoga to bend her spine the wrong way and move her hind end out of milking range whilst still managing to both kick and bite at me. She's a work in progress.
