I bought a couple californian does Thursday they're 9 months old & nice & healthy... my issue is 1 of these does started pulling fur last night & it looked like a rabbit exploded in her cage, the man I bought them from said he was fairly sure she hadn't been exposed to a buck but I've never seen a doe pull fur that wasn't bred I'm needing some feedback as to whether she's most likely bred or a stress issue I'm not sure but I put a nest box in with her just in case. @Samantha drawz @Bunnylady @Pastor Dave

I would put a box in there. I can't think of any other reason they would pull hair.

I thought the same thing so I threw some hay in a nest box & put some of the fur she pulled in there & tossed it in her cage before I left for work tonight.... maybe it'll be full of babies when I get home in the morning "fingers crossed" lol

So, what happened? Did the doe kindle? You know, you can't peak our curiosity and then not satisfy it. Taint right.

As of 7am when I went to bed no babies

Sorry I was asleep & didn't have my glasses on when I wrote that last update. I meant no babies lol but she's hangn out in the nest box.... the only thing that makes me skeptical is she's not bellied down but I'm still hopeful

Some does may experience a false pregnancy when they have been mounted by another rabbit, even if the other rabbit was a doe. They may go through all the motions, even pulling fur, but of course no babies are produced. I have also known a lot of does that would pull some fur when they hit a hormonal peak, even if they hadn't been with another rabbit of either gender, but they usually didn't pull more than a couple of mouthfuls.
