Theres a local animal auction right down the road from me, I go there almost every Thursday and have noticed a pattern. The goats that people bring sell more by size than they do breed or color, the bigger the goat/sheep, the more money it brings. People FIGHT over the biggest of the goats. Last couple weeks big bucks (Nubians, alpines, Boers) have brought $250 (on the low end)-$370 PER BUCK, these are bucks people! non registered cull stock is selling for that much. SO with that being said, I got to thinking...what if I started to bring bucks to auction off, the auction takes $10/ head on each goat you sell, which isn't much. I started to scour Craigslist for free or cheap goats and came across 3 free bucks, two Nubians, one alpine, all in the weight range of 150 lbs-250 lbs, about the size of goats that were bringing $200-$300 at the auction. We're going to pick them up and auction them off on Thursday! I can't wait to see how much they bring ;)

To be continued...

Please quarantine these goats away from the ones you have! Buying and bringing a lot of strange goats to your place is a recipe for disaster as far as disease prevention goes. Should work well however if you have a place where they can't contaminate the areas that your goats live. Good luck!

I have two fenced in pond areas, and one goat pen up by the house, every new goat I bring on the property gets quarantined in one of the two ponds… so we’re good😁

They're bought for butcher. 🤷. Agree, do keep away from your goat herd. Not that they are "diseased" but don't risk it. 😁. Not to mention some bucks have bad habits...damage, injury, you know.
They will be well away from my other goats, I will be picking them up on Wednesday, taking them to auction on Thursday, so hopefully that’s not enough time for them to get themselves in a scrape😂

Well y’all, the Nubian bucks were picked up before I could get there. Now I’m only picking up the young alpine buck tomorrow.
