I've had goats since 1980-toggenburgs
A big herd? Or just a few for family milk?

I think i have heard that Toggebergs are especially easy kidding, and the kids are very robust at birth, even in terribly cold temps....

Uh..... i guess you don't experience the super cold temps..... ;) but have you found the rest to be true?

I breed and show them-at my age my herd is much smaller than it used to be-toggs are pretty easy kidders for the most part but a season doesn't go by that I don't have to lend a hand-last year was the worst kidding year I have every had as far as having to pull kids-don't know why but it was a kidding from hades! I'm glad I had enough experience to get it done without any lose to kids or dams but geez. The kids are pretty robust at birth-we don't have to worry so much about cold weather, however it is in the high 30's and low 40's at night and I bring them in the house for 2 days before putting them outside. 99.9% of the kids I raise are bottle raised-my preference due to crazy kids I get from damn raised. Thanks for you questions!

Wow! Sounds pretty cool, and very different from my goat experiences.

And stuff like that.... one year with a high percentage of issues kidding... would drive me crazy... I always want to know the WHY. So often with animals... you are just left with guesses.
