Ridin' The Range
My hubby and I have 2.5 acres in the middle of the city in southern Louisiana. We have two handsome young men (ages 2 and 3!). My oldest son has blood sugar problems and tends to react to certain food preservatives. Problem is most food labels do not label everything clearly as many things can be labeled as "natural flavors." So, we started making lots of our food from scratch. Well, once we started down that road we really got into raising our own food as well. That's really up my alley as I always wanted to live in the country and have a little farm!
We are expecting our first goat kids in a few weeks. Once they are a little older we will be milking the mom. We have 3 does and are planning on spreading out our breedings so we can try to have some milk year-round (one of the great things about Nigerian Dwarfs!). The goats are just as much pets as future milk providers. We also raise chickens and rabbits and I'm trying to learn how to garden! If only my son would stop "weeding" out my seedlings!
