New from west virginia

[The homstead]

Hello all.
I am located in north central West Virginia. My wife and I have four children 3 boys and 1 girl all under the age of six. We are homestead self sufficient type people. We raise chickens rabbits and hopefully we will be adding milking goats to the herd this year.

Yes. The boys love taking care of the animals. They are half help and half a disaster when it comes to the garden still. They need just a little more time to learn when things are ripe.

Welcome from Texas! My earliest memories are of toddling behind my Daddy in his garden. He taught me the love of soil and I learned a lot from him. I am 63 now, my Daddy is long gone, and I still garden.

Have patience, teach your children. You are planting seeds in their fertile minds. You sound like an awesome Dad.

Welcome! When you decide on dairy goats check www.adga.org and the dairy goat clubs in the area. I love WV but too much snow in winter to live there.

well my wife and I went to an auction today. The dairy goats they had looked pretty rough so we didn’t end up buying any this time. However there was a little Hereford heifer calf all on her lonesome (probably the prettiest calf I have ever seen and I just had to have her) so I guess we have our first bottle baby calf
