So a little background:

I got my nibbler, a nigerian dwarf buckling (eventually wether) at the end of March, when he was 3 weeks old. A week later, on Easter, I got his buddy Queso-- a mini nubian that was 3 weeks old at the time. 2 weeks later, we lost Queso suddenly overnight without any warning. We got his (Queso's) twin brother as a bit of an homage, since these guys are pets and my house was very sad. 4 days later, that baby died in my arms without warning. No symptoms, was calling for his morning bottle and then collapsed minutes later. I got to him and he was gone within 2 minutes...

I had a necropsy done on the 2nd twin last week and found out that he had an acute case of Entero without any symptoms. The vet pretty much told me that at his age, it was most likely due to a few things:

1) the does probably were not vaccinated before kidding

(Which would not surprise me with these people, they were trying to work on the cheap)

2) the babies were most likely taken off of mama way too soon and did not get enough colostrum

(Again, would not surprise me)

3) they were probably fed cheap kid replacer and then sent home with me and instructed to feed them bottles of cow's milk that has been warmed 2x a day...their little systems couldn't handle the changes.

(See my answer to #1)

Now, I'm super paranoid. I now have 2 nigerian dwarf kids (one 7 weeks from a different farm, one 9 weeks from the same farm...but he's my original kid and has been thriving) that were given Anti-toxin as a preventative a week ago yesterday (just in case), and I plan on giving them their CDT vaccines tonight. I'm starting to wean the eldest kid (9 weeks old) off to one bottle a day by cutting his cow's milk bottle in the morning a couple ounces every day, which started yesterday.

Since I started that, I've seen two 'dog logs' and considering what I've been through with the mini nubi kids, I'm panicked. My vet doesn't seem concerned, and my friends who run a goat farm down in California say that happens on occasion with bottle babies.

I need, as strange as this sounds, as much information as possible about poop. Probably more so to calm my soul than anything else. My vet is really good and would tell me if they're worried. I'm trying to learn these animals from top to bottom...

That clumping is a slight scour. You can give unflavored gelatin in their bottle to firm their poo back up. Personally I wouldn't worry, though I know it's hard not to.

Here's a chart on goat poop: http://www.backyardherds.com/web/viewblog.php?id=2607-goat-poop

Once you click that link you'll find a bunch more to learn from at the top of the article page. I also wrote the eBook - Goat Notes that you could glean info from (link in the signature below).
