Hello,
Less than a week ago we bought our first two goats. One of them is in milk after her first kids. She was never milked and I never milked anything before, but we both are doing pretty well now and I am sure I milk her fully. I milk twice a day. Thing is, her milk droped from 1.3 litres from the very first day (I have a feeling she held some back and I was not a good milker then n so I guess it was even more) to around 600 mililiters a day from her. She was not in a best body condition when we got her and still nursing kids (they were around 3 month old). She looks way better now, in a pasture with green grass and dry one in a feeder, some suplements with vitamins, amino acids and microelements, some grain when milking but I think to give some between milking as well. She's not big on drinking water though. It's still rather cold here (above freezing), but I thought she should drink something at least and I am offering her buckets of cold, warm, with ACV and even with sugar cause that is all I have for now, always fresh so no idea what else I can do. Both goats have a nice big shelter to hide. So question is, is trop of milk normal in a situation like this? Is there something else I can do? Is she just "resting" after nursing kids and all the stress she went trough?
