Well, we have never owned any animal larger than a goat...and a few days ago, we purchased and picked up our first Miniature Donkey. He's well mannered and already trained to be lead on a rope. In fact, my daughter has already taken him on many walks around our 3-acres and he's never once yet pulled her or made it difficult on her.
As we continue to learn in ownership, I would like to know from you owners out there, what pointers you can give me in helping him with many years of happiness and ours as well.
We are brushing him once every other day. I also spray him down during that time with fly spray that also repels ticks, etc. He doesn't like the spray however...he will move away each time I pull the lever to spray...so I learned to spray the solution on his brush and then brush him with it on. Seems to work so far.
We are in the process of building a high tensile fence for him to give him more room. He's temporarily in a holding pen with my female goats in about a 40' x 30' area. Seems to be enough room for them all, but again it's temporary until we get the fencing up.
Again, we welcome any recommendations/pointers in our ownership of this beautiful boy.
