Hello all from snowed in PA! I will be picking up two Pygmy kids in a couple of weeks. Two little girls. They are very wild and afraid of me as the moms have never been really domesticated. What can I do so they will trust me? I want them as pets and companions and not to be afraid to be with me?

Just take up lots of time with them so they figure out that you aren't going to eat them. Take some tortilla chips (restaurant style) with you to the barn, set down and start munching. They can't stand it and will eventually come around to get their share. It takes lots of time sitting with them and patience.

lil' I never thought of chips. I use animal cookies. Also to add give them lots of love. We had a buck we got when he was 8 weeks old and he will be one in May and we would catch him and just love on him and worked with him along with animal cookies. He comes right up to us. Good luck

Yep, just spend lots of time feeding them and loving on them. Our mini-Mancha doe was kind of skittish because her mom was a nervous wreck all the time, and my husband would bring her into the house and cuddle with her while he watched tv and ate popcorn. (Not that I recommend for everyone to bring theirs in the house, but it worked for ours--we have tile floors, thankfully!) Now she loves him to death, when he gets in his car to go somewhere she runs after him crying because she doesn't want him to leave! Baby goats are naturally curious, so if you get them away from their wild moms, they don't have anyone to tell them that they should be afraid of you. They will warm up to you pretty soon, especially if they are lonely and missing their moms and friends.
