Hello everyone! I’m a new goat momma and have some questions . I got two 3 month old Pygmy/ND/fainter mix babies. Brought them home 2 weeks ago and everything was amazing. Than Wednesday 10/25/2017 my male got really sick real fast. Vet came out and treated him for a parasite. Couple hours later he got worse and later died that night. His sister is still eating and drinking. She’s being treated as well just in case. We have her in the house with us for now until I go pick up her new buddy on Sunday 10/29/2017. Should I rush to get her buddy before than? I don’t want to end up loosing her to depression. Or will she be ok hanging out indoors with us until her buddy comes? It’s starting to get cold here in WI.

Did you have a necropsy done on the one that died? I think I'd want to make sure it was parasites before I brought home a new buddy to potentially infect, since the buck was with the one you still have and she's been exposed to whatever it is.
Just for bio-security reasons, ya know.
What kind of parasite did the vet treat for?

Barber pole. My weather that died should signs of being very anemic

Greetings and welcome to BYH. Sorry you lost the little guy. They are tough but can also be pretty fragile, especially when young. best of luck with the new buddy for your girl. If you would, please share some pics? We are all pic addicts here :hide So there's a lot of good info available here in the various threads, please browse around. In doing so, you'll get to meet a bunch of the great folks here. Make yourself at home!
