Hi All! I have three female rabbits ranging in age from 10 weeks to almost adult(?). There are a couple of things I've heard/read that I need to check on.....

1) Is it so that only does dig?

2) Do I need to worry that my girls will beat the snot out of each other when they get older or would that only happen if there is a male around?

3) How much room do rabbits actually need in their hutch? (provided they get to get out and exercise periodically)

Looking forward to getting to know this forum!!
Thanks in advance for any input/guidance.....

Been a Bunny Owner for ahhhhh 5 months now. All boys. But hopefully getting girls in the Spring. :fl

I've done lots of reading and have had a ball learning from my boys about rabbits. I'll try to answer your questions.

1) Is it so that only does dig?

I believe both bucks and does dig. It's a part of bunny life. It's hard wired in them.

2) Do I need to worry that my girls will beat the snot out of each other when they get older or would that only happen if there is a male around?

I've come to realize bunnies (males and females too) are very territorial when the hormones set in. I had two males together from 8 weeks old, but when 5 months came around, even neutered the dominance issue set in. Bunnies, male or female will hurt another. Some keep them together and have good results. I would recommend separate cages. It saves on vet bills. Just my two cents.

3) How much room do rabbits actually need in their hutch? (provided they get to get out and exercise periodically)

Its' recommended to have a large enough hutch or wired crate so that your bunny can comfortably stretch completely out, or stretch up with clearance for his ears. There are lots of threads in the bunny section of this forum that talks about rabbit set ups.

Hope some of this helps. Look forward to hearing about your girls. And this forum LOVES pics. Don't be shy. Show them off! :thumbsup

I used to have two rabbits who were sisters , ( I think ) , they were together when we bought them and got older and still loved each other !!!
They would sleep together, share a bowl of feed , sleep on each other ... They were fine together .. But, I know it might be different with other rabbits .
Mine got together just fine though !!! :weee
