This week I brought home my first two pygmy does and they are doing awesome! I have been reading lots and lots on this site and I want to thank everyone for all of the information! I am a bit overwhelmed, however and I wondered if you all could help me. I wanted to put together a cabinet with things I may need for common issues that can happen with goats. I have purchased vaccine and my breeder had already wormed them. What kind of things should I keep on hand at all times so I can be somewhat prepared for any sort of issue? Do I need more than one kind of wormer? Items to treat bloat, scour, etc? I may be a nervous Nellie, but I am totally ok with spending some $ for a goat med cabinet and have it on hand just in case. What does everyone use for bug control in the barn? Should I treat the barn or the goats? Or both? Any and all suggestions for anything would be very much appreciated! Thanks!

Welcome :frowglad you joined us! When you can post some pictures of your does :D =D

Number for vet on phone

Based on what we read here, we made up a goat kit(used a plastic tote with lid) and have in it:

1. Thermometer
2. Vet wrap
3. Wormers- my understanding is that you want to run fecal samples so you know what worms you need to treat for
4. Gloves
5. Needles- we have 20 G x 1", 18 G x 1" -as this what we could find locally
6. Syringes- 3 cc, 6 cc, 12 cc- other sizes may be helpful
7. Non- spermicidal Sterile Lubricating Jelly
8. Gentle Iodine 1% (we use for dipping navel cords on kids)
9. Rubbing alcohol
10. Cotton Balls
11. Paper towels
12. multi-purpose sterile solution
13. Probiotic plus paste for goats
14. Pen G

I'm sure I am forgetting items and hope others will share their items too! @OneFineAcre , @Goat Whisperer , @Pearce Pastures , @Southern by choice
