Hello!!! we are looking into getting our first goats and need some direction :) We have had many pets over the years and goats have always come up but it never seemed to be the right time. Now seems right and we are starting our journey to becoming goat keepers! We do not want goats for anything other than pets...no milking or breeding...so we have decided to get 2 Pygmy wethers to start. I will be posting more to get ideas on houses for them in the other areas of the forum! Im glad to be here and hope to get all my ducks in a row so we can bring our boys home!

Goats are great. We sell a lot of wethers to folks who just want pets.
Most end up spoiled rotten. :)

Thanks everyone! We haven't even picked out any boys yet just planning what we want need! We figured out where they are going and need to just set up their enclosure and figure out what kind of floor to use in their house. It's an open bottom shed but I don't think just dirt would be very comfy or sanitary? ???

Welcome from Ohio!

A dirt floor is fine, don't worry about sanitary because they're going to pee and poop all over it anyway :). You do want it well-drained so it won't get muddy, so don't put it in a low area or where water will run right in. Every one in awhile clean it out and make a compost pile or put it on your garden, you'll grow great veggies!

Dirt is the best choice as long as it stays dry

thanks guys!! I was telling my hubby I wanted to put a gravel/clay ground down, but if the dirt/grass is good, then I am ok with that! Is there any special cleaning I need to do?
