Welcome from VA! Gotta love a goat 😁

Are you talking dairy for home use or a commercial "dairy business"? A nigie from a good dairy lineage will usually give a decent amount of milk👍 Do you have goats now?

Personally, I use Saanen and Saanen x Nubian. Love the milk & cheese & yogurt.

:D =D

We actually are truly just starting. We have 11 Easter egger and 6 longhorn 5 week pullets. I built a brooder/pen and working on the coop and run. We bought a small farm that was neglected for 10 years and rehabbing what was here. I've been collecting supplies from rough cut pine boards along with reclaimed fence posts and landscape timbers to start building the goat barn and pen.
We are going with the Nigerian because of the buttermilk content. We eventually want to build to commercial level but one step at a time as we learn.
Here are a few pictures 😁

Great start! And we love pictures :yesss:

You'll have fun with goats. And you have regs in each state for milk sales....such as no raw milk for human consumption 🫤🥴. But KY recently passed for "herd share" sales. I have some soap making customers. It takes a good effort to be licensed for commercial status. But you'll get to all that info, eventually. ☺️

We're here for you! It's a great group with a lot of experience, willing to share.

If something mechanical or such needs help with I can help with, but for goats you will have to ask the experts here.
Welcome from Montana where we still have dial up.

I actually bought a used 06 Kubota bx2350 that I'm chasing on and off starting issues. I replaced the main fuse. Worked for a bit but now I'm replacing all the safety switches 🤞

As we lay the ground work we are trying to meet USDA guidelines to get certified so we can hopefully by next year to start commercial sales. We have a two bay midsize steel building that one half is the work shop the other half we are turning into the dairy/commercial kitchen. Their are not many goat diaries in our area so we are hoping for local sales to start.

Great start. Welcome from So Cal. Just sheep, some chickens and working dogs here.
Working dogs will be our next side distraction lol. Looking at great Pyrenees. Found a rescue in Indiana.
